Inspector, PSI caught accepting bribe to release an accused

Bengaluru: Two police officers were caught red handed by the Lokayukta police while accepting Rs 1 lakh as bribe at the Krishnarajapura (KR) Police Station in Bengaluru on Thursday.

KR Puram Police Station Inspector Vajramuni and Police Sub-Inspector Ramya fell into the trap while accepting a bribe in order to release the person accused in an extortion case.

A complaint had been filed alleging that the officers were demanding Rs 5 lakh to release the accused.

The family had paid Rs 50,000 earlier and based on the instructions of Lokayukta, a sum of Rs 1 lakh was being handed over to the officers when they were caught. Further investigation is underway
