Couple arrested for duping jewellery stores using fake payment app

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Young citizens of Bengaluru early on Sunday gathered for a peaceful Climate Fast in Cubbon Park here.

This fast is in solidarity with the 21 day Climate Fast led by Ladakh based engineer and environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk. Wangchuk’s fast has raised eyebrows, stressing the requirement for sustainable practices and environmental responsibility.

These citizens, in a show of support have joined in this Climate fast. The Climate Fast, had people coming from across the country and shared their views on Climate Change.

Their main demand to the government was to implement the Sixth Schedule in article 244(2) of the constitution. Article 244 gives autonomous rights to the administration of ecologically sensitive areas.

So far, tribal areas in Assam, Meghalaya Tripura and Mizoram practice this right. Wangchuk, who was conferred the Ramon Magsaysay award, has reportedly demaned special status and statehood for the Ladakh region.

His fast, he said to reporters, is about giving rights to the indigenous people. “Material development” that is limitless and disregards natural resources and indigenous people, wildlife, flora and fauna is not development, he claimed.
