Bengaluru's water woes: A personal account of daily challenges

Navigating through the intricasies of daily life in Bengaluru can sometimes present unexpected hurdles testing one's adaptability and resourcefulness.

Picture yourself waking up one morning, your schedule meticulously planned with one event after another to cover.

Your mind races, allocating 20 minutes for a quick shower, another 20 for breakfast, and 30 for travel, leaving you with just 5 precious minutes to spare before reaching your destination by 10:55.

With determination, you rise from bed, only to discover a jolting reality: there's no water. None in the kitchen, none in the bathroom.

Suddenly, your carefully crafted plan unravels, hampered by an unexpected twist of fate.

This was my situation when I stayed at SG Palaya amid the ongoing water crisis in Bengaluru. I immediately contacted the house owner who deliberately ignored my calls.

Worry and frustration crept in as I pondered my options. Without water, my morning routine crumbled before me. Desperation set in as I realized the severity of the situation.

With no means to shower or prepare breakfast, I faced the prospect of navigating my day without these necessities. In Bengaluru, which is now grappling with the water crisis, I had always taken for granted the luxury of uninterrupted water supply.

Now, faced with its absence, I found myself grappling with the harsh reality of the situation. Unable to rely on my landlord for assistance, I hastily formulated a plan to salvage what remained of my morning routine.

With time ticking away, I made a decision that would alter the course of my day: I would seek refuge at the nearby Nexus Mall in Koramangala.

Rushing to solve my sudden water problem, I dashed to the mall with only the essentials in hand.

Once there, I went straight to the restroom, relieved to find a place to freshen up and regain some sense of normalcy in the midst of the chaos.

As I splashed water on my face and brushed my teeth, I couldn't help but wonder at the irony of the situation. Here I was, in the midst of a bustling shopping complex, relying on its amenities to meet my most basic needs.

The staff at the mall services were kind and accommodating. They informed me that they were not allowed to let people use water for these purposes, but they were empathetic enough, for which I will always be grateful.

However, the challenges didn't end there. With no access to water for cooking, I faced yet another dilemma: how to sustain myself for the day ahead.

Forced to deviate from my budgetconscious meal plans, I reluctantly resigned myself to the reality of dining out, a prospect that weighed heavily on my mind as yet another financial burden.

Throughout the day, I found myself grappling with a newfound appreciation for the simple luxuries I had previously taken for granted.

From the convenience of a reliable water supply to the ability to prepare meals in the comfort of my own home, each aspect of my day served as a poignant reminder of the importance of resilience in the face of adversity.
