Three out of five ramps at Silk Board Junction to be open by May-end

Bengaluru: In a relief for commuters, the Silk Board Junction is set to be decongested by the end of May, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) on Monday told reporters.

The Central Silk Board (CSB) junction, which connects Electronic city to the city, HSR Layout to Jayanagar BTM Layout has been the kryptonite of many commuters who frequent here for their jobs in the IT Industry.

The junction has been a subject of social media ridicule, as traffic moves at a snail’s pace. The BMRCL, which is establishing two metro stations (Yellow and Blue Line) has fast-tracked works on five ramps that will aim for a smooth commute.

Reports say that three of the five ramps are nearing completion. Once complete, vehicles coming from BTM Layout can smoothly traverse to HSR Layout and Electronic City.

Recently the BMRCL undertook a 50 hour long concretisation of these corridors.

The Yellow live, which connects RV Road and Bommasandra via Electronic City is undergoing inspection, and is expected to be open by the end of the year.

The Blue line which connects CSB to the Kempegowda International Airport via K R Puram is touted to be open by 2026.
