If Mekedatu project not approved, we won’t vote: Farmers
NT Correspondent
Bengaluru: Farmer groups from Kanakpura in Ramanagara District have warned that they would practice their right to vote, only if the Mekedatu Balancing Reservoir project is commissioned.
Manje Gowda, president of the Kanakpura wing of the Karnataka State Farmers association and ‘Hasiru Sene’ warned that the farmers will vote only if the Mekedatu project is given the green signal.
“The Congress government had promised to build a reservoir here. They seemed to have forgotten that,” Gowda said in a press conference.
He also pointed to the acute water shortage the state capital is struggling with.
“We don’t need any guarantees from you, instead provide water,” Gowda concluded.
