Bigg Boss contestant Sonu Srinivas Gowda arrested

Bengaluru: Social media influencer and Bigg Boss Kannada fame Sonu Srinivas Gowda was arrested on Friday for allegedly not following appropriate procedures while adopting a girl child, police said on Friday.

The action was taken based on a complaint filed by an official of the Child Welfare Committee, officials from Byadarahalli Police Station said.

The arrest happened days after she was trolled, when she announced the adoption of an eight-year-old child from North Karnataka.

Authorities acted on a complaint from the Child Protection Office, claiming that Sonu's adoption was a ploy to gain unwarranted sympathy and celebrity status.

Sonu Srinivas Gowda, however, maintains she is innocent and asserted that she followed proper procedures in the adoption process.

She expressed confusion over her arrest, mentioning that it had only been 15 days since she brought the child home.

Officials from the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) are currently questioning Sonu, seeking clarification on the adoption process and her intentions.

Authorities assert that they would not apprehend innocent individuals. Sonu Gowda's arrest has sparked controversy surrounding the adoption process and her intentions behind it.
