ANI reporter abuses, assaults female reporter from PTI

Bengaluru: An FIR was registered against a reporter of Asian News International (ANI) after he allegedly assaulted a female correspondent working with Press Trust of India (PTI) during a political rally at Ramanagara in Karnataka on Thursday.

The alleged incident occurred at a rally of Congress MP DK Suresh when he was headed to the Ramanagara District Administration office to file his nomination for the Bangalore Rural seat for the Lok Sabha elections.

The incident of the ANI correspondent attacking the PTI reporter was caught on camera and was posted by the PTI on their official account on X.

Following the incident, the PTI reporter filed a complaint before the Ramanagara Police and the ANI reporter filed a counter-complaint.

Meanwhile the National Commission for Women (NCW) member Khusbhu Sundar condemned the physical and verbal abuse of a female journalist and demanded immediate action against the accused by his employer.

"I vehemently condemn the behaviour of the male journalist who is seen physically and verbally abusing the PTI female journalist in Bengaluru today. Want @ smitaprakash to take action immediately," she said in a post on X.
