4 including woman arrested in CSR scam

Bengaluru: Four including a woman were arrested by the Halasuru Gate Police for allegedly siphoning off Rs 15 lakh from Non-governmental organization (NGOs) and Ashrams in the city by promising to help them obtain CSR funds from multinational companies.
During a press briefing on Friday, the Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda said that the accused were arrested after a complaint was filed by an Ashram Trust against them.
The accused had obtained payments from the Trust on the pretext of providing them CSR funds worth crores from a multinational company named Expeditors International India Private Limited.
The police identified the accused persons as Sunita Rajendra Prasad, 36, from Tamil Nadu; Jatin Agarwal, 20, a resident of Uttarahalli in Bengaluru; Jayakumar, 42, from Tamil Nadu and Rajendra Hegde, 56, from Gujarat.
The Ashram trust claimed to have paid Rs 10 lakh to the accused. However when the accused began giving lame excuses to provide the funds, the trust authorities got suspicious and demanded a refund.
A complaint by the trust authorities claimed that an advocate was sent to the office of the accused persons to get the refund.
However the accused allegedly abused and assaulted the advocate following which a complaint was filed by the trust authorities, the city police chief said.
