Bengaluru: During a religious and cultural event near Anekal in Bengaluru (rural) on Saturday, a 120-foot tall temple chariot collapsed.
The incident took place during the annual temple fair of Huskur Madduramma temple, which was attended by thousands of devotees from over 10 villages.
As hundreds of devotees attempted to raise the elaborately decorated chariot using ropes tied to all sides, it lost balance and crashed to the ground.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the chariot was later restored to its original position with the assistance of tractors and ox carts.
The Huskur Madduramma fair is renowned for its annual chariot festival, with these majestic chariots serving as the main attraction.
However, the number of chariots participating in the festival has declined significantly in recent years, from over a hundred a decade ago to just 10 to 15 in recent times.
