Bengaluru: A Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus conductor-cum-driver sustained injuries after a group of drunk and armed men attacked him over a trivial row at the Kumaraswamy Layout Bus Stand in the city.

According to the police, the incident took place around 12:30 am on April 5 when the victim, Nagendra, along with the bus conductor were asleep in the bus at the 15-E Bus Stand after finishing their duty for the day.

The accused, armed with weapons, came to the bus stand and created a ruckus, which disturbed Nagendra.

The victim shouted at them objecting to their unruly behaviour. Enraged by this, the gang got into an argument with Nagendra and allegedly attacked him with hands and machetes.

Until Nagendra's colleague rushed to the spot to rescue him, the gang fled the scene, said the police.

The victim, Nagendra, sustained multiple injuries to his head, eyes and hand, and was admitted to hospital. Based on a complaint, the jurisdictional police registered a case of assault against the accused and have so far nabbed one of them.

Efforts are on to track down the others involved, based on the CCTV camera footage, the police said.
