Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister and Karnataka Congress DK Shivakumar threw his weight behind Congress candidate from Bengaluru Central Mansoor Ali Khan on Monday, adding that he was the antithesis of what BJP MP from Bengaluru South Tejasvi Surya thought of Muslims.
He was referring to a speech wherein Surya had mocked the minority community’s educational status and intellectual ability.
Shivakumar said that Mansoor, the son of former Union Minister Rahman Khan ran 20 educational institutions.
He made the comments while campaigning for Mansoor, who hit parts of Rajaji Nagar, Gandhi Nagar and Chamarajpet that fall under the Bengaluru Central where he will be taking on sitting BJP MP PC Mohan. CM Siddaramaiah also joined the campaign later.
“MP Tejasvi Surya had said that if you look inside a Muslim’s chest, you won’t find even four letters and that they are reserved for fixing punctures only. However, Mansoor Ali Khan’s service is that of educating 50,000 students. He runs more than 20 educational institutions. It is not possible for us to match Mansoor’s service,” Shivakumar said.
