Court in K’taka grants NIA 10-day custody of accused in Rameshwaram Cafe blast case

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: A special NIA court in the city on Saturday granted the national agency 10 days custody of the two accused involved in the low-intensity blast at a popular cafe in the city.

The suspects, Mussavir Hussain Shazib and Adbul Matheen Ahmed Taahaa, the alleged bomber and the key conspirator, both hailing from Thirthahalli, Shivamogga district were brought from Kolkata on a transit remand and were produced before a National Investigation Agency special court judge in Bengaluru on Saturday.

The officials claimed that the duo were on the run since 2020 giving agencies the slip and were nabbed by the NIA from a lodge near Kolkata where they were staying under false identities.

The NIA said the month-long manhunt succeeded with the joint efforts of several State police forces, including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and West Bengal.

Last month, the NIA had announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh each for those providing information leading to the arrest of these two accused.
