Bengaluru: In a bizarre twist, an armed robber lodged a police complaint alleging physical assault by the residents who tried to overpower and nab him in the city.
Salman Pasha was caught red-handed after robbing a private finance firm employee, Prashanth R, by the residents and was beaten up in Ramamurthy Nagar.
The incident took place after Prashanth, 21, had visited a customer to recover the loan amount on April 4.
Pasha along with two of his accomplices Imran and Vaheed, intercepted Prashanth and asked him to part with the money he had collected from the people.
When Prashanth refused to oblige, Imran allegedly slashed his left hand with a knife while the two other miscreants hit him with the blunt side of machetes.
As they were trying to escape with his bag which contained Rs 3 lakh, locals chased them. However, Pasha lost balance and fell on the road, and was attacked by 10-15 people.
Prashanth filed a complaint against the trio following which the jurisdictional police secured Pasha and Imran.
However two days later, Pasha also filed a complaint stating that he had been chased and brutally assaulted by a group of people.
Pasha admitted that he and his associates had been tracking the movements of Prashanth and robbed him according to their plan because they were in need of money.
