Four-year old boy dies in fire

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: In a shocking incident, a fouryear-old boy died after a temporary shed on top of a residential apartment complex caught fire in Sultanpalya on Sunday evening.

The police suspect that a short circuit in the electrical system of the four-storey building may have caused the fire at the room where the boy was sleeping around 6 pm.

The fire department was immediately alerted but despite the best efforts of the officials, the boy could not be saved.

"A Nepalese couple used to live in the shed on the top floor. The man used to work as a security guard while the maid used to work as a maid in the same complex. The unfortunate incident took place when the boy was sleeping inside the room and the parents had closed the room from outside," the police said.

After dousing the fire, the officials brought out the body and sent it for autopsy. A case has been registered and a thorough inquiry will be conducted on the incident, the police added.
