Cop’s wife robbed of gold chain

Bengaluru: A 32-year-old police head constable’s wife was attacked and robbed by two unidentified miscreants outside her house on the Bengaluru-Bidadi Road.

The woman had come out of the house to throw the sweeping dust. When she turned back she was accosted by a stranger, who had jumped in front of her from the first floor of her house. As she stood alarmed, another person came from behind and pushed her down. Both robbed her of the gold chain.

The victim has been identified as T Roopa, a resident of Bidadi Town. The incident happened between 6 am and 6.10 am on Tuesday. Roopa’s husband S Nagesh, is a police head constable attached to the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) 4th battalion.

On Thursday at around 5.55 am, Nagesh left for work. After preparing coffee for her father-in-law, she came out to throw the dust.

Around 6 am the attack happened. She tried to put up a fight, but she was overpowered by the duo. “After managing to pull her gold chain, the two are said to have ran next to the neighbour’s house. When she started screaming for help, one of her neighbours, identified as Santosh, came to her help, but it was too late,” said an officer on part of investigations.

Both the accused were wearing masks and had tied kerchiefs to their heads. Of the two, one had a hippie hairstyle. Both of them were dressed in T-shirts and jeans and were short built. The value of the gold chain is estimated around Rs 2.5 lakh.

A case of robbery under section 392 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the unidentified accused. Further investigations are on.
