TISS suspends Dalit PhD scholar for 'protesting' Centre’s policies
Mumbai, NT Bureau: The Progressive Students’ Forum released a statement alleging that the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai suspended Ramadas Prini Sivanadan, a Dalit PhD scholar, for two years.
This action reportedly stemmed from his involvement in protests against the BJP government, the forum claimed.
Ramadas, who is also a student leader, had been served a show cause notice by the institution’s registrar on March 7, citing objections to his activism.
Specifically, his participation in the Parliament March in Delhi in January and a social media post encouraging students to watch the documentary "Ram Ke Naam" were highlighted as reasons for his suspension, branded as an "‘anti-national’ act" by the forum.
“The TISS administration wants to censure voices even in the online space,” the forum alleged.
