3 held in rice pulling scam, Rs 69.79 lakh seized

Bengaluru: The Jayanagar police arrested three accused involved in duping people under 'rice puller’ metal scam and trying to sell a copper pot claiming that it had iridium metal which is used by aerospace organisations.

The accused were identified as Sinigal, from Punjab; Ramesh, from Tamil Nadu and a Bengaluru resident named Shivashankar, the police said.

Following a complaint filed by one of the victims, the police raided a place in Jayanagar 6th block in Bengaluru and busted the 'rice pulling' scam.

The three accused were arrested and Rs 69.76 lakh in cash was seized from them. The accused were produced before the court and were remanded in police custody for five days. The investigation is underway.
