Bengaluru: In a first for the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), the state’s beloved dairy brand ‘Nandini’ is set to make its appearance on the jerseys of Scotland and Ireland Cricket Jerseys, it was announced recently.

Reports suggest that the logo, which features a rising sun and a cow will appear on the lead arm slot on the jerseys. It will appear on the left for right arm batters and on the right for left armed batters.

MK Jagadish, Managing Director of KMF told reporters that the teams will be involved in its advertisements and photoshoots, during the ICC T20 World Cup Tournament, slated to happen in June.

Nandini has made its mark beyond Indian borders, in countries like Singapore, Bhutan, Middle East and even the co-hosts for the world cup, the United States (US).

The World Cup will also take place in the West Indies, where 20 teams including India will fight it out for the trophy from June 1- 29.

A whey based drink ‘Splash’ will also be launched during the tournament, Jagadish, told reporters ‘Why not sponsor Karnataka state teams’: Pai slams out at KMF Mohandas Pai, former Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Infosys, questioned Nandini’s move in sponsoring teams like Ireland and Scotland, while supposedly ignoring cricket teams in Karnataka.

“Why are they using the money belonging to the farmers of Karnataka, paid by consumers who are kannadigas,to sponsor foreign teams? What value will it deliver? Pay poor farmers better.” Pai posted on X.

However, another set of netizens supported this move, pointing out Gujarat based multinational milk co-operative Amul’s move in sponsoring the Afghanistan Cricket team.
