Bengaluru: In a move to conserve as much as rain water as possible and to avoid it enter the sewage pipes, chairman of the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) Ram Prasath Manohar on Tuesday urged consumers to authorize sewerage connection to the Board’s sewage line by May 7.

It has been learnt that a lot of users have access to sewerage pipes without prior permissions, violating the rules under 65 and 72 of the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage act, 1964.

The chairman warned of legal consequences, in addition to removal of such connections to those who failed to obtain permission previously for their installations by May 7.

Large buildings like factories, apartments and other establishments are urged to adopt Sewage Treatment Plants and promote treated water for purposes other than domestic use.

A Survey will soon be commenced, on those who illegally divert sewage water into the sewerage pipe and into the rain water canal.
