
Cook arrested for fleeing with valuables worth Rs 50 L belonging to employer

Bengaluru: The Mahadevapura police arrested a cook who had been on the run after stealing valuables including cash worth Rs 50 lakh from his employer in the city.
The accused was identified as Surendra Kumar Kamat, 36, who was working as a cook at an apartment owned by a private firm CEO Amit Jain in Doddanekundi.
It was learnt that Kamat had been working at Jain's house for the past three-anda-half years during which he had gained their trust.
On April 12, the employer along with his family went to Mumbai after which the accused stole valuables including diamond, gold and cash from the house and fled to his native, Bihar.
The matter came to light only when the family returned on April 15. Following a complaint filed by Jain, the Mahadevapura police sent a team to Bihar in search of Kamat.
However the team received information of Kamat being sighted in Andhra Pradesh.
Following his trail, the police nabbed Kamat while he was trying to board a train from Andhra Pradesh to flee from police. The police also recovered two bags he was carrying and took him into custody.Cook arrested for fleeing with valuables worth Rs 50 L belonging to employer
