Bengaluru: Solving a murder mystery, the Kodigehalli police arrested a man who was on the run after allegedly murdering a 48-yearold woman at her house in Bhadrappa Layout in the city.
Responding to a distress call on April 19, the jurisdictional police reached a house and found the body of a woman in a naked state.
The call was made by the deceased woman's teenage daughter who had come to see her mother after she failed to get any response to her phone calls.
The police identified the woman as Shobha, who used to live alone at the house after separating from her husband. She had two daughters, one of whom is married, the police said.
Investigating the matter, the police found that the woman was involved in an affair with a man named Naveen, a resident of Harohalli in Bengaluru.
The mystery was solved as the police interrogated Naveen about the murder. During the interrogation, Naveen stated that he had met Shobha through an Instagram account and later developed feelings for her.
On April 19, they both decided to meet in person at her house where they developed intimacy.
Naveen alleged that he felt uncomfortable with her and decided to stop, but Shobha kept on forcing him into submission which resulted in an argument.
In rage, Naveen strangled the woman to death and fled the place. Shobha's daughter who is staying at her in-laws house called her mother several times but failed to get any response from her.
Worried, she visited her house and found the body. Meanwhile the Kodigehalli police have arrested Naveen under murder charges, the police said.
