IT raids on close aide of DK Suresh, other businessmen

Bengaluru: The Income Tax (IT) Department who has been conducting raids at 16 different locations in Bengaluru over the last two days, have so far confiscated valuables including cash, diamonds and gold worth Rs 23.88 crores.

During the operation, the authorities claimed to have seized cash worth Rs 1.33 crore.

Moreover, the officials also confiscated 22.923 kilograms of gold jewellery, diamonds, and 'benami' property deeds.

According to sources, the targeted premises where the raids were conducted, belonged to industrialists and gold merchants. All seizures took place within the Bengaluru South region, the report said.

Meanwhile on Wednesday, the IT officials carried out raids on the residence of key associates of Congress's Bengaluru Rural candidate DK Suresh.

Sources told News Trail that the IT officials arrived in two cars at around 6 am and launched search operations at properties belonging to Congress block president Sridhar and former corporator Gangadhar, alongside their relative's residence in Konanakunte.

The area falls in the Bengaluru Rural constituency. This comes two days ahead of the crucial Lok Sabha election in Karnataka, with as many as 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state going to polls on April 26, with the remaining 14 set to go in for voting on May 7.
