Women’s Congress protests against Prajwal

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) women’s wing staged a protest against JD(S) MP from Hassan Prajwal over allegations of sexual abuse of scores of women.

More than 2,700 videos of women being apparently sexually assaulted by Prajwal have been doing the rounds on social media.

Meanwhile, the MP, who is the grandson of JD(S) patriarch HD Deve Gowda, has allegedly fled to Germany.

Prajwal had contested as the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate in Hassan against Congressman Shreyas Patel.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had ordered a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the allegations against Prajwal.

KPCC women’s wing president Pushpa Amarnath, All India Mahila Congress president Alka Lamba, party’s Bangalore South candidate Sowmya Reddy, among others participated in the protest, demanding that Prajwal be tracked down and arrested.

Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar branded the incident shameful.

“We are distressed that an incident has taken place in the state that has made civil society hang its head in shame. We have been observing the news about Prajwal Revanna that is being discussed on social media. He has done something that has made the state hang its head in shame,” she said.
