'I’m 100% Indian and my wife is 100% German'

Bengaluru: Dhruv Rathee, a popular YouTuber, has taken to his social media platforms to refute widespread claims alleging that his wife is Pakistani and he shares the same nationality.

Describing those spreading the misinformation as "desperate," he emphasised that he is "100% Indian" and his wife is "100% German."

"How desperate do you have to be to drag my wife’s innocent family into this?" Rathee wrote, alongside screenshots of viral posts claiming his wife’s family is from Pakistan.

"For the record, I’m obviously 100% Indian and my wife is 100% German," he reiterated.

The viral posts falsely claimed Rathee’s “real name” is Badruddin Rashid Lahori and his wife, Juli Lbr, is a Pakistani national named Zulaikha.

They also alleged the couple resides in Don Dawood Ibrahim’s Karachi bungalow under Pakistani military protection.

Addressing those behind the false news, Rathee, who has posted over 600 videos, remarked, "They have no answer to the questions I raised in my videos. They’re completely rattled! They’re getting more shameless day by day regarding the lies they spew...You can also see the disgusting moral standard of these IT Cell employees."

Videos such as “Is India Becoming a Dictatorship,” “Ladakh is Dying,” “Reality of Love J***,” and “Electoral Bonds: The Biggest Scam in the History of India” have amassed millions of views, boosting Rathee’s subscriber count to over 18 million.

Praised for his factbased coverage of social and political issues, especially against the BJP-led establishment, Rathee has become a target of such false narratives.

Rathee, born in Haryana and a mechanical engineering graduate from Germany, is married to Juli Lbr-Rathee.

They run a vlog documenting their travel adventures. Reacting to Rathee’s post, one user wrote, "It's your truth which made them mad... Go ahead on your path. Give them more reasons to hate you."
