Bengaluru: Celebrating Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's birth anniversary, Ashok N Chhalawadi, Joint Director of the Kannada and Culture Department in Bengaluru, expressed his pride in sharing the same country as him and acknowledged his pivotal role in advancing labor welfare, aligning with his broader mission of social justice.
He commended Dr. Ambedkar for drafting a constitution that ensures equality for all, irrespective of caste, gender, or any other bias.
At a recent event organized by the Dalita Sahitya Parishath and Gandhi Sahitya Sanghatane in Malleswaram, G.H. Yashodha, a prominent women's rights activist, discussed how Ambedkar facilitated fairness for all workers, particularly those from OBC and Dalit backgrounds.
She lauded his efforts in providing equal opportunities for both men and women in the workforce, noting that while he was hailed as a hero for Dalits, his contributions extended to all laborers and workers, particularly in establishing gender equality.
Yashodha highlighted some of Ambedkar's significant initiatives such as savings plans and insurance, which not only provided financial assistance but also empowered women to voice their concerns in the workplace.
Dr. K. Prakash, a labor leader and intellectual advocate for common people, elucidated why Ambedkar is revered as a hero by all workers in the country.
He emphasized Ambedkar's advocacy for worker welfare and his proactive stance on addressing their issues.
Within just four years, Ambedkar significantly improved the lives of workers, ensuring they worked only eight hours a day instead of the previous 14 to 15.
Dr. Prakash also criticized the portrayal of labor issues in the film "KGF" by Prashanth Neel, describing it as "vulgar" and lacking authenticity regarding the real challenges faced by workers.
He emphasized the grueling conditions in mines and the lack of job security for workers. Ashok emphasized that Ambedkar's principles resonate in every Indian household and urged for further promotion of his ideas.
He underscored the vital role of farmers as the backbone of the nation's economy and stressed the equal significance of laborers and workers.
Ashok credited Dr. Ambedkar for India's progress, highlighting his instrumental role in drafting a constitution that upholds equality for all, irrespective of caste, gender, or any other bias.
