Bengaluru: Home Minister Araga Jnanendra who visited Kota on Saturday in the aftermath of an attack by police officials on a family of Koraga tribesmen, announced that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will launch a probe into the matter. The Home Minister also announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the six victims in the recent police assault and handed out a cheque for Rs 50,000 to each of them, as part of the first phase.

“The government is very concerned about the welfare of Dalits and has already taken action against the police team that was allegedly involved in the assault,” Jnanendra told members of the Koraga community. “Although a counter complaint was filed against some members of the Koraga community, this appears to be fake as it was filed three days after the incident.” The Home Minister assured the Koraga community that they have no cause for worry. “Justice will be done to you and the state is with you,” he said.

Kota police engaged in a scuffle with the family of a Koraga tribesman during a wedding held at his house.
