Shivakumar shrugs off Kumaraswamy CBI probe demand

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Thursday tried to downplay JD(S) state president HD Kumaraswamy and his party colleagues demanding that Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot recommend handing over the “pen drive” case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) which is under the control of the Union government.

Kumaraswamy had been referring to the case wherein pen drives were distributed in Hassan in the lead up to the Lok Sabha seat going to polls on April 26.

The pen drives contained nearly 3,000 videos of JD(S) MP from Hassan Prajwal Revanna allegedly sexually assaulting women. Prajwal is currently said to be out of the country while his father and JD(S) MLA from Holenarasipura HD Revanna has been arrested in a related rape case.

“No one has stopped him (Kumaraswamy) from waging a struggle in this regard. Let him do it. I will respond to it after returning from campaigning in Andhra Pradesh,” Shivakumar told mediapersons.
