Heavy rain pounds south B’luru, 11 trees uprooted

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: The southern reaches of the city witnessed heavy rainfall Sunday evening which uprooted 11 trees and left many roads flooded.

The rain which resembled an intense thunderstorm, uprooted trees in JP Nagar Phase 1, 2 and 3 and Srinivasa Nagar in Banashankari. Five of these fallen trees have been cleared, claimed BBM sources.

The Bommanahalli Zone saw three trees getting uprooted at Lakshmi layout near Arekere. A manhole of Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) leaked in Bommanhalli Zone leading to sewage flowing onto the road.

That has been cleared, according to the Palike’s control room official. A home in Bangarappa layout at Rajarajeshwari Nagar saw water enter the premises. The water has been cleared, claimed BBMP sources.
