Victory for workers: Victoria Hospital to reinstate 55 terminated employees

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Following a meeting between Karnataka General Labour Union and the Dean and Director of BMCRI, Victoria Hospital's management has agreed to reinstate all 55 workers who were unlawfully terminated.

As per the agreement, the reinstatement will commence on Tuesday with an assurance of payment of the pending two months' wages.

The termination of these workers on May 8, had sparked protests as they sought rightful payment for the work done despite facing detention by police on May 10 for asserting their rights.

AICCTU (All India Central Council of Trade Unions) called upon the state government to take immediate action to eradicate exploitative contract systems.

They also demanded the regularisation of all contract workers, particularly in the public sector and their transition to permanent status with dignified working conditions.
