SIT raids 5 spots including Devaraje Gowda's home

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) squad for med to probe sexual assault allegation against JD(S) MP from Hassan Prajwal Revanna conducted raids on five properties in Hassan city.

One of the major spots was BJP Hassan district leader Devaraje Gowda’s residence in Ravindra Nagar in Hassan city.

The Congress State government accused him of leaking nearly 3,000 videos of Prajwal allegedly sexually assaulting scores of women. The leaks came in the lead up to April 26, the day on which Hassan went to polls.

Gowda on the other hand blamed Congress Hassan candidate Shreyas Patel and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar for leaking the videos. Gowda is also accused of rape and has been remanded to judicial custody.

Moreover, Prajwal’s videos were accessed by his former driver Karthik, who is said to have shared them with both Congress and BJP leaders.

The former driver is said to have done so to use the videos as leverage over Prajwal amid a land dispute. Properties owned by aides of former Hassan MLA and BJP state general secretary Preetham Gowda were also on the receiving end of raids.
