Bengaluru: After the tragic accident in Ghatkopar, Mumbai in which a large billboard fell on people reportedly killing 16 of them, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials are on their toes to avoid a similar incident here.
Engineers have been directed to check all billboards falling under the eight zones of the Palike.
“These include the ones which have obtained a stay from the Karnataka High Court,” said Gayathri N Nayak, Assistant Commissioner of the Advertisement Departments, BBMP. The stay applies to around 40 such billboards, according to Nayak.
Sources in the advertisement department claimed that the engineers are already inspecting the boards.
“Every week, a meeting headed by Munish Moudgil, Special Commissioner, Revenue, will review such billboards and ensure they are removed if found faulty,” an official told News Trail.
