
Student ends life in PES campus, students to protest
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: A 21-year-old Computer Science Engineering student reportedly fell from the sixth floor of a building in PES University in ELectronic City campus in the city.
The deceased was identified as K Rahul from Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh. Suspecting suicide, a complaint has been registered at Parappana Agrahara Police Station.
This is the fourth death reported from PES University campus in less than a year. Last July, a 19-year-old student, Aditya Prabhu, reportedly jumped to his death from the eighth floor at PES University campus in Girinagar.
A third-year student Surya M Achar was found dead at the Electronics City campus in October 2023. Vignesh K, a BBA student, was found dead on January 30, 2024.
According to sources, Rahul had visited his college to attend an exam on Tuesday morning.
However later, he went to the fifth floor of a building and allegedly jumped to his death.
Following an inspection, the police sent the body to St John's Hospital for a post-mortem analysis. Further investigation is currently underway.
Meanwhile several activists have said that they are going to stage a protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on May 18 against the recurring suicides at the private university
