
Celebrating International Museum Day with week-long festivities
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: To celebrate International Museum Day (IMD) today, May 18, the Indian Music Experience Museum has organized a week-long series of events.
These activities aim to raise awareness about the importance of museums in cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
The museum will host vibrant events celebrating India's diverse musical heritage, focusing on engaging youngsters. The festival will feature community drumming sessions led by the Drum Jam Foundation, offering participants a chance to explore percussion communication.
Children can attend a "Konnakol and Instrument Making" workshop, where they will learn about various instruments, the basics of Konnakol, and craft a harmonica from simple materials.
Preema John, the museum's director emphasized the importance of museums in education and cultural preservation.
The week will also feature "Open Stage @IME" with performances in music, spoken word, and comedy, and "Strung Together - Storytelling" sessions by Vikram Sridhar, focusing on single-string instruments and their cultural significance.
