Engineering student found dead inside hostel room
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: A first-year BTech student was found hanging inside one of the hostel rooms at a private engineering college in Heelalige near Bommasandra, the Surya Nagar Police said on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Harshita, 18. A roommate who used to stay with Harshita, had gone to her native village.
Harshita was alone in her room. According to the police, on Thursday evening, Harshitha was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her room and the room was locked from inside.
A few students who saw her hanging body through the window alerted the college management. They broke open the door and rushed her to the hospital where she was declared brought dead.
"No suicide note was found from the spot. But we are probing the exact cause that might have led her to take this extreme step," a senior police officer said.
Following the incident, a huge number of students gathered at the college campus protesting and demanding a probe into Harshita's death.
