
INDIA to win over 40 seats in UP: Shivakumar
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Fridays said that after campaigning in Uttar Pradesh, he felt that the Congress, Samajwadi Par ty (SP) and their smaller Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) partners would win more than 40 of the 80 Lok Sabha elections in the state.
Speaking to reporters at Vidhana Soudha about his election campaign in Uttar Pradesh, he said: “I am confident that the INDIA alliance will win more than 40 seats in Uttar Pradesh. Mallikarjun Kharge announced 10 kg rice for the poor. We have explained to the people how Congress party will roll out the guarantees at the national level like we implemented our promises within a month of coming to power in Karnataka.”
He added that the State gover nment had resolved to take additional measures on drought relief after a meeting with officials.
“We discussed drinking water, fodder for cattle and other aspects. We will also call a meeting on the impact of rains in Bengaluru soon. We will shortly give instructions to officials to fill up dried up lakes with treated water,” Shivakumar said.
