RCB vs CSK: Harassment alleged after euphoric IPL fans storm streets
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Amid the joy in the IT city over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) making it to the play-offs of the IPL tournament after winning over title holders Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Saturday night, several shocking videos and photos have surfaced on social media platforms where fans of both teams are allegedly seen arguing and mocking each other over the results of the keenly fought match.
Following RCB's victory, several RCB fans took to the streets to celebrate the win with a few social media posts suggesting that the celebrations went overboard resulting in the mocking of CSK fans who wore the trrademark yellow jersey.
A user of X, previously twitter, named Annie Steve expressed her ordeal after the IPL match. "Feeling unsafe wearing a CSK jersey outside and around Chinnaswamy stadium. RCB fans (men) here are abusing and bullying every single person walking by. So many men out here are so drunk and abusive, be it women or men. People are also driving rashly, scaring us," she posted.
"OMG, stay safe. The same happened with me, but I was at the screening near where I live (not in the stadium), and these fans started yelling at everyone who was wearing yellow, shouting slogans with bikes and all," said another X user.
Similarly, an RCB fan on Sunday claimed that he was chased by CSK supporters after the match.
"Today while coming back home from Chinnaswamy I was travelling alone on a two wheeler. A group of CSK fans saw my jersey & chased me, around 10 bikes. But luckily I escaped from them by increasing my speed & changing direction. But what about others ???" said the person in his post on social media platform X.
Police said that they need to verify these claims before taking any action.
