Farmers holds protest seeking scientific distribution of crop loss
Mysuru, NT Bureau: Members of Akhila Bharatha Raitha Krishi Karmika Sanghatane staged a protest outside the Nanjangud taluk office on Monday urging the state government to ensure scientific distribution of drought relief funds for the crop losses incurred by farmers due to rain and other vagaries of nature.
Though both governments have distributed drought relief from the state disaster response fund and national disaster response fund, they claimed the state has not yet distributed relief funds among all farmers.
The government must expedite the process of fund distribution by depositing the money in the accounts of affected farmers, thye asserted.
With the district starting to recieve rains, they appealed to the government to distribute the relief amount as it would help farmers to buy seeds and fertilizer to take up sowing during the kharif season.
Unable to clear the loans borrowed from micro financing agencies, several farmers are ending their lives, the farmers claimed.
They appealed to the government to waive the crop loans taken by farmers in this distress situation. Meanwhile, heavy rains have flooded tobacco and ginger fields causing huge losses to farmers in Hunsur.
