B'luru prison inmate attacked with calender rim

Bengaluru: An inmate of the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison was shifted to Victoria Hospital after he was attacked by a group of inmates while they were being shifted to different barracks.
Dhanajaya Renuka Prasad, 33, an undertrial prisoner, sustained injuries on his forehead, back and neck. A group of seven other inmates used rims of calendars as weapons to attack him, the official said.
The Assistant Superintendent Mohan Kumar and Jailer Kantappa Patil along with a few other officials rescued Renuka Prasad and shifted him to hospital. Following the incident, the officials removed all calendars and other items from the prison cells.
A case under IPC sections 323 (assault) and 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon or means) was filed against the seven inmates and an inquiry is on.
