78 candidates for 6 Council seats
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: As many as 78 candidates have been finalized for the six Council seats that are slated to go to polls on June 3. There had been 156 candidates but many had withdrawn their nomination by May 20, the last date to do so.
The Council seats that will go to polls include Karnataka North-East Graduates which will see 19 candidates battle it out. As many as 10 candidates will contest the South-West Graduates seat. The South-East Teachers seat will have 15 contestants.
The South-West Teachers seat will have eight candidates in the fray. The South Teachers constituency will have 11 candidates and Bangalore Graduates Council seat will see 15 candidates.
Teachers and graduates registered as voters in respective constituencies constitute the various electorates. 4.38 lakh to cast ballot Moreover, the electoral rolls have been finalized and the total number of voters in all seats at 4,33,833.
The North-East Graduates seat will have 1,56,623 registered voters. The Bangalore Graduates constituency will have 1,21,860 electors. The South-West Graduates seat will have 85,090 voters.
The South-East Teachers seat will have 25,309 electors. The South-West Teachers seat will have 23,402 voters. The South Teachers constituency will have 21,549 electors.
