CM announces Rs 5 lakh to kin of man who died drinking contaminated water

Mysuru, NT Bureau: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday met grief stricken family members of Kanakaraju who died after drinking contaminated water at K Salundi village in Mysuru taluk and announced Rs five lakh compensation to Rathnamma, mother of the deceased.

He said the government has taken tough action against officials in K Salundi after the incident left one person dead and scores affected. His government has suspended three officers including the chief officer of the Bogadhi Town Panchayat that was responsible for the supply of potable drinking water, the CM said.

The Mysuru DC in his report said the three officials failed in the task of ensuring potable drinking water.
