Domlur residents allege tree cutting by commercial establishment
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Residents living at Ward 112, Domlur were livid after a few trees were cut, under the pretext of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) pruning of branches for the monsoon showers.
Rahmat Qadri, a resident who lives near Thippasandra road, had alleged that around four to five trees have been cut by men on Friday, under the pretext of the Palike’s routine pruning of branches for the monsoon.
“The workers plan to cut further trees, for a commercial establishment,” he said. Abhilash Reddy, former corporator, had told News Trail that action will be taken against those involved.
“An First Infor mation Report (FIR) will be filed against the establishment’s owner.” Reddy said. This comes at a time where the city has seen its green cover deplete throughout the years.
To add injury to insults, trees have been uprooted when strong winds and heavy rainfall pound the city.
BLG Swamy, Deputy Conservator of Forests, BBMP was not available to comment on this matter.
