Man arrested for threatening to murder a girl for refusing him

Belagavi, NT Bureau: The rural police arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly harassing and issuing death threats to a girl for rejecting his advances in Belagavi.

The accused, identified as Tippanna Dokare, a resident of Kiniye Village, had been allegedly pursuing the girl from the same village.

The girl is a Bcom student while the accused was revealed to be a drunkard, unemployed and unruly person. As per the complaint filed with the Belagavi rural police, the accused would stalk the victim on the way to her college pestering her to marry him.

Feeling harassed, the girl had stopped going to the college for a few days, sources said. Tippanna had allegedly threatened the victim's mother that if her daughter refused his proposal, he would kill her in the same manner as a student in Hubbali was killed a few weeks ago.

Tippanna also pelted stones at the victim's house damaging a few windows in the process as a warning.
