Video: NWKRTC suspends bus driver, conductor
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) on Friday suspended a bus driver and a conductor over a viral video.
The clip that was shot on Thursday showed the bus driver Hanumanthappa A Killedar driving an NWKRTC bus while holding an umbrella with one hand and handling the steering wheel with the other.
The video was purportedly shot by the conductor Anita HB on Thursday evening. She can be heard joking and laughing while warning the driver to be careful as he handled the bus.
It is said that there were no passengers in the bus which was heading from Dharwad to Betageri near Gadag city.
NWKRTC in an official statement said that the driver Hanumanthappa had compromised the safety of himself, his colleague and others on the road with his antics. They added that the organisation had been brought into disrepute because of the video.
NWKRTC said that the clip made it look like the roof of the bus was leaking when it wasn’t.
They added that officials had inspected the roof and found that there were no leakages. The video had attracted negative comments on social media including one from firebrand BJP MLAangouda Patil Yatnal.
