Notorious offender arrested for killing two persons sleeping on footpath
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: The Banashankari police arrested an accused who in an intoxicated condition killed several people sleeping on the roadside in the city. The arrested person was identified as Girish, 26, a resident of Subramanyapura in Bengaluru.
The police said that the accused had allegedly killed two people who were sleeping on the roadside by smashing their heads with stones last week. Girish, who was drunk, found a person sleeping on a footpath in Jayanagar 7th stage on the night of May 12 and smashed his head with a heavy stone.
A case was registered in this regard at Banashankari police station. Similarly on May 18, the accused came across another person sleeping near the City Market Complex and crushed his head with a stone.
Girish committed the act while he was under the influence of alcohol, the police said. Another case was registered by the City Market police in this regard. The police of both the stations conducted a keen investigation to nab the accused in both the murders.
Following Girish's arrest, the police found that he had been abandoned by his parents and later his wife also separated from him and shifted to Kerala along with her daughter.
According to the police, Girish had been involved in a series of criminal offences including theft, robbery and assault. The Banashanakari Police detected a sexual assault case filed against him a few months ago.
He had been arrested and was sent to jail a few times earlier, the police said. The police said that during the interrogation, Girish himself confessed to have killed the two persons while they were sleeping on the footpath. The cops added that further investigation is underway.
