Mysuru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee(KPCC) spokesperson Mr M Lakshman hit out at the growing proximity between the ruling BJP and the Opposition JD(S) quipping that ‘’if the Congress criticizes the BJP, the JD (S) answers us’’.

“The JD(S) seems to have taken supari from the BJP to criticize the Congress. Among 26 dams in the state, 21 dams were built by the Congress, The Maharajas of Mysuru built one dam and the British, four dams. Has Mr HD Deve Gowda (JD-S supremo) built at least one dam? Or has the BJP built at least one dam during their tenure?” he asked.

Speaking to media persons in Mysuru on Sunday, Lakshman said, “H.D Kumaraswamy has said that it was Deve Gowda who brought Cauvery water to Bengaluru. But there are records to prove that it was during the tenure of the Congress government that the city started receiving Cauvery water,” he said.

On minister Govind Karjol’s allegation that it was because of the Congress that the Mekedatu project got delayed, Lakshman said, he had a letter to prove what the BJP had done to delay the project. ‘’Instead of making such allegations, they should let people know about the status of the project,’’ he said. On BJP MP from Mysuru Kodagu constituency Pratap Simha’s criticism of the Congress padayatra to Mekedatu, Lakshman said, “unlike the spark Pratap Simha created related to Hanuma Jayanthi in Hunsur and on Tipu Jayanthi in Kodagu in the past, this padayatra by the Congress is not meant to create any spark. Where are ministers Dr K Sudhakar and Dr Ashwath Narayan? Five to six BJP ministers have gone to Sri Lanka, and atleast 10 senior IAS officers have gone out of the country with their families for foreign tours and New Year celebrations. This proves their concern for people of the state,’’ he said.
