Cylinder blast: Five of family suffer severe burns
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Five members of a family including three children suffered burn injuries after an LPG cylinder exploded at their house in Sampigehalli Police Station limits in the city. T he i nju red were identified as Madan, 33, his wife Prema, 28, and their children Hiradh, Prashanth and Anita.
The police said that the family hailed from Nepal and had been residing at a rente d house in MS Nagar.
It was learnt that Madan used to work as a food delivery executive in the day and as a security guard at night.
The incident took place around 11:30 pm on Wednesday when Madan returned while his wife and children were asleep. However the family failed to notice a leakage from the LPG cylinder at home.
"In order to reheat the food for dinner, Madan tried to light the stove which triggered the explosion," said an official from the jurisdictional police station.
Following a deafening blast, neighbours rushed to Madan's house and alerted the police who along with fire tenders, reached the spot and helped in dousing the fire. Madan and his family were rushed to Victoria hospital.
