Solidarity Youth Movement condemns Israel massacre
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: The Solidarity Youth Movement (SYM) in Karnataka, announced its support for the Palestinian people while condemning the recent Israeli massacre in Rafah, Gaza terming it 'inhuman.'
In a press release, the Youth Movement said that the tent camp in northwest of Rafah city, which house displaced Palestinians, became the site of a shameful mass slaughter after at least 45 innocent lives were lost, including women and children.
Further it reiterated its strong demand to the United Nations and the international community for swift and decisive action to stop the violence and enforce a ceasefire.
"Innocent lives must be protected, and humanitarian aid should reach those affected. Over 35,800 Palestinians have been killed and 80,200 injured since 7 October 2023, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza. More than 800,000 people have been displaced from Rafah since 6 May 2024, with thousands living among rubble without essential services," the press release said.
The activists also claimed that the food distribution in Rafah has been suspended due to severe supply shortage and insecurity, worsening the humanitarian crisis while over 2,500 university students worldwide have been arrested while protesting against this genocide.
"As a friend of the Palestinian people, India must use its influence to impress upon the international community the urgency of fulfilling its responsibilities to restore peace in the region. We also call upon the United Nations and the international community to enforce an immediate ceasefire," the SYM added.
