Assault on Koragas: Minister Sunil Kumar visits colony

Bengaluru: Minister for Kannada and Culture Sunil Kumar visited Koraga colony of Kota Thattu village in Kundapur and consoled the victims of an alleged police assault on Sunday.
He visited the house where the mehandi programme for a marriage was held couple of days ago when police assaulted people of the Koraga community on the pretext of stopping the programme. He also communicated with members of the community and gathered information about the incident.
After visiting the place, the minister while speaking to the media, condemned the police assault on the Koragas. “The Koraga community is one of the backward in the state and the police assault cannot be justified. The cops have committed a mistake and measures have been taken against the police team which behaved in this manner,” he said.
Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary too visited the spot and assured justice to the victims. “ I have already spoken with the district Deputy Commissioner in this regard and asked him to take all appropriate measures to ensure no such incident occurs in future, “ he added.
Tahasildar of Brahmavar Rajshekar Murthy, former zilla panchayat president Dinakar Babu, Additional SP Kumarchandra, DySP Sudhakar, Brahmavar Circle Inspector Anantha Padmanabha among others were present.
