Gang from TN arrested in robbery, vehicle theft cases
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Four people from Tamil Nadu who had formed a gang and were involved in criminal activities such as vehicle theft and robbery in Bengaluru, were nabbed by Parappana Agrahara Police here.
The police recovered stolen valuables worth Rs 45 lakhs including 31 two-wheelers and 10 grams gold ornaments from their possession. Based on a complaint filed recently, the police initially tracked down two accused and produced them before the court.
Later during the interrogation, the police obtained information regarding the other two accused and arrested them from a place near Jain College in Electronic City 2nd Phase.
The police told News Trail that the accused were natives of Vellore and were earlier arrested in robbery and a POCSO case. However they came out on bail and continued with their illegal activities. Further it was learnt that the gang had rented a Tavera car from Tamil Nadu and came to Bengaluru.
The gang then targeted and began stealing parked vehicles outside the houses and indulged in robbery cases here. The stolen vehicles were taken to their hometowns where they would sell them to their contacts in exchange for cash.
A few months ago, the gang had snatched a gold chain from a motorist in Hebbagodi Police Station limits which the accused confessed during the interrogation.
The police recovered the vehicles sold to people in Gudiyatham, Madanur, vaddarapalya, Sengundram and a few other places with the help of local police in Tamil Nadu.
