Congress Legislature Party meets

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: A Congress Legislature Party meeting took place at the Radisson Blue Atria Hotel in Bengaluru at 6 pm on Sunday. As many as 134 Congress MLAs and 29 MLCs attended the meeting headlined by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar and their Cabinet colleagues.

The meeting came in the lead up to elections to 12 Council seats set to take place on June 13. As many as 11 of those seats are elected directly by MLAs. Congress stands to successfully nominate seven MLCs while allies BJP and JD(S) may add three and one MLCs respectively.

Congress on Sunday announced seven candidates for said polls. The list included Ministre for Science and Technology NS Boseraju, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) working president Vasanth Kumar, the CM’s son Dr Yatindr, political secretary to the CM K Govindaraju and party leaders Ivan D'Souza, Bilkis Bano and Jagdev Guttedar.

Congressman Basanagouda Badarli was named the party candidate for the forthcoming Council by-poll. Meanwhile, three Council seats elected by teachers and another three elected by graduates are set to go to polls on Monday.
